January 13, 2009 Parent Son Annual Cake Bake Auction

Pack 99 held their annual Parent Son Cake Auction on Saturday, January 10 at Our Lady of Las Vegas School.   Parents, cub scouts and siblings baked cakes to help raise money for our Pack.  The auction contained 45 cakes in various shapes and sizes from cupcake caterpillars to realistic looking spaghetti dinners.  Each cake was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the pack to pay for upcoming events, badges, and other items.  A competition was also held.  Each den received first, second and third place winners and one winner was chosen as the Grand Prize Winner overall.  Our judges Jeanette and Jay Bufalino and Donna Rowley had a difficult time choosing the winning cakes in each category because there were so many imaginative entries.  Pack 99 has a long-standing tradition of creating pastry chef quality cakes that are truly works of art.  A special thanks to everyone who participated by baking, bidding on, and judging cakes and helping run the auction.

December 13, 2008 Christmas Pack Meeting

Cub Scouts and their families attended the final pack meeting of 2008 while celebrating the holiday season during our Christmas Pack Meeting on Saturday, December 13, 2008.

Cub Scouts received their achievement awards and badges, we made personalized Santa hats with glitter glue, each scout also made their own Santa Tie Slide.  We enjoyed hot pizza and crisp salad and wrapped up the night with a giant paper snow ball fight.  All our thanks to the parents, cub scouts and leaders who made this meeting possible.  We couldn’t do it without your help.

November 15, 2008 Scouting for Food

Every November, Pack 99 and Troop 99 participate in the annual city wide Scouting for Food community event with the Salvation Army. The main goal is to restock the local food bank for the upcoming holiday season. Every year along with the Troop we host one of the main drop off points in the city at Lake Mead and Rampart. Cub Scouts worked hard all day asking shoppers to pick up some extra nonperishable goods when they went in to shop. Our Scouts were filling up 2 grocery carts every hour for over 8 hours period. Other Scouts, walked the neighbor hood streets hanging up collection bags on the homes around Our Lady of Las Vegas, and returning later for pick up. The older Webelos, help with sorting and packing in to box that were shrinked wrapped and loaded on to the large semi truck.

The annual event went well and we had good participation from all dens. Good Job!
