WELCOME TO PACK 99
Our goal is to provide a source of information regarding
activities and events for Pack 99 Cub Scouts and their families.
Harvest
Festival
Friday-Saturday, October 25-26, 2009
The Cub Scouts supported the Annual Our Lady of Las Vegas Harvest Festival by staffing the Scout booth for two days and nights. Our booth was one of the busiest at the festival, featuring Sandy Candy (a powdered sugar with various flavors and colors, which is poured in to a long clear tube it's like a super sized Pixy Stick.) We also sold glow sticks in the evening. All of the proceeds go to Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School, who hosts our den and pack meetings. Thanks to all that participated and keep up the good work.

Fall
Pack Meeting
Friday, October 16, 2009
Pack 99 met for a monster themed pack meeting on October 16. We decorated real pumpkins, wrapped the den leaders with toilet paper until they resembled mummies, and decorated bat themed tie-slides. Webelos 2 performed a short skit using hand-made puppets. The Bears practiced their comedic skills by telling jokes. Thank you to everyone for coming out to the meeting and thank you to our helpful parents especially Stephanie Malburg and Susan Nogueras for helping to plan the event. Also a big thank you to Darren Shaefer from Pack 129 for manning the grill and making hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone.

The weather was great for the Friday nights pack event.

This was followed up by a quick clean up project.
Las Vegas Wash Green Up! - Fall 2009
October 17, 2009
It was time for our semi-annual trip to the Las Vegas Wash to help the Southern Nevada Water Authority plant native plants in the area. Pack 99 has been participating in Green Up twice a year for the past 3 years, it is part of our conservation and service projects and it makes our community a prettier place. Green Up took place on a rather warm October Saturday, but we still had our best turn-out ever with approximately 56 scouts, parents and siblings in attendance. Thank you to all who participated and helped beautify our community.

Cub
Scout Pirate Day
September 12, 2009
Each year Pack 99 holds a fun outdoor event to introduce scouting to boys who have not participated before. This year, Pack 99 hosted “Pirate Day” to show potential scouts some of the fun things we do during the year. It was a hot day but we made sure the boys had plenty of things to do to cool off. Activities included a Treasure Hunt, where scouts collected cool pirate gear at each stop, Shiver Me Timbers where scouts sat on large blocks of ice for as long as they could, Ocean in a Bottle where scouts recreated their own wave machine using a plastic bottle water, vinegar and oil, Blast the Cannons using a sophisticated water balloon launcher, Wet Sponge Relay, “Would you Eat It?” where brave scouts are blindfolded and sample “pirate grub”. A pizza lunch was served and it was a great way to kick off the 2009-2010 scouting year.
Pirate
Day proved to be a success as we had a great recruitment night
this year. We are proud to announce we have 14 new Tigers,
7 Wolves, 3 Bears, 1 Webelos I Thanks to all
the parents and new scouts for joining Pack 99 we look forward
to a fun filled year.
Shiver Me Timbers! The only way pirates know how to cool down on a hot Las Vegas day.
